We design and build pergolas, louvered covers, and full pavilions across Nashville and the surrounding counties, on footings and hardware sized for the uplift a roof catches when a spring storm comes through.

Pergolas and pavilions anchored for wind, not just shade

A Roof Is A Sail
The moment you put a roof on it, wind becomes the problem.
An open slat pergola lets air pass through it. A solid pavilion roof does not, so it behaves like a sail, and Middle Tennessee gets straight-line winds most springs. When one of these structures fails it is almost never the rafters. It is the whole thing lifting or racking because the posts were never truly anchored to anything.
So we do not set posts on top of pavers, and we do not bolt surface brackets to a slab that was poured for foot traffic and nothing else. Footings go below frost depth and get sized for the load and the uplift, with hardware rated to hold a post down rather than just keep it standing up.
“A pavilion does not fail in the roof. It fails at the post base.”
There is a permitting wrinkle here worth knowing before you design anything. In Nashville, an uncovered deck can use a reduced rear setback of 10 feet, but a covered deck or roofed structure has to meet the full rear and side setbacks. Putting a roof over a deck or patio can therefore change where it is allowed to sit on your lot. We check your parcel, your zoning, and any overlay before drawing, not after.
What We Build
Cover options we design and build
These three are really a scale of how much weather you want to keep off, and the price follows that more than it follows the size.
Pergolas

Open slats on posts, in cedar or low-maintenance aluminum. Gives you partial shade that shifts through the day, defines the space, and takes climbing plants if you want it to soften over a few seasons. The most affordable way to make a patio feel like a room.
Louvered Covers

Slats that pivot, by hand or by motor, so you can open the roof for sun and close it when it rains. Costs more than a fixed pergola and it is the one people with a west-facing patio end up wishing they had bought first.
Pavilions & Covered Porches

A solid, water-shedding roof with real framing, wired for a fan and lights. This is the version you use in a downpour and in November, and the version that most often changes which setbacks apply to the space underneath.
Partial shade that moves as the sun does. Slat size, spacing, and which direction they run all change how much you get and when. If what you want is reliable shade at three in the afternoon in July, be honest about that up front, because a louvered or solid roof will do it and an open pergola will not.
Shade is what makes a patio usable in July.
A Nashville patio with no cover sits empty from about noon until six most of the summer, which is a lot of money spent on hardscape nobody is standing on. A cover buys those hours back, and a solid one buys back the rainy evenings too.
We are a local crew that designs and builds pergolas, louvered covers, and pavilions over patios and decks across Middle Tennessee, with one point of contact from your first call through the final inspection. No subcontractor shuffle, no surprise line items.
